a great day

I was a tad nervous starting this day at 3:30 a.m.
But, Lucas was a champion today!  He was well behaved and happy and enjoyed shopping with me, riding his NEW bike (yes I found enough things to return to WalMart after our trip to pay for a small bike), and also meeting new friends (the Fedele Children came for a visit today).

I was so proud of him today.  Then at bathtime he had a complete meltdown.  But, in reality, totally ok for all the activity he did today.  He really enjoys the Fedele kids (ages 3, 6, and 7) and is carrying around the cute little shutterfly book that we made for him that has pictures of all his new friends.  He is looking forward to meeting more friends.  He carried the book around after supper and kept looking at the pictures of them in it.  It was so sweet.

Tonight while he was in the bathtub, finally, I was running through some chinese flashcards with him and asking him to teach ME chinese.  uh hum....why was he giggling so much?  Isaac was even correcting me from outside the bathroom door.  I'm pathetic.  Let's just admit it now.   But, hey I'm continually trying to figure out ways to communicate.  I'm actually better with more of a sign language attempt.  Not official sign language but more like stand-on-your-head-and-quack-like-a duck sign language.  But, hey it works.

I'm realizing more and more what a blessing this little man is in all of our lives.  I think he really is well grounded and will do well as we walk into the future together.  Isaac also seems to enjoy having this little fella in his life.  He keeps bringing friends over to meet him and Lucas LOVEs them all.

He has added quite a spark to our otherwise quiet lives.

  1. Glad to hear you had a great day. Don't sweat it about learning Chinese. I think I would be even worse at it; at least big brother can help out! Wishing you a few calm quiet days. Constant excitement can be wearing over time and set up some unhelpful expectations. Enjoy today!

  2. I've been wondering what Lucas' blog would look like? What photos would he post? What stories would he share . . . of his first days in the USA with his recently unwrapped God-given family? And I've been wondering too, if God was not the God I trust He is, would I feel a little like Lucas SunWan . . . Is this what I would feel like if I were scooped up and plopped into Heaven? Yes indeed, All Things New! Michele
