A Man Sized Breakfast---at 3:30 a.m.

Well, this jet lag thing has our boy on a bizarre schedule.  We thought we had it licked yesterday as we tried another approach.  He woke at 2:30 a.m. so I put him down for a nap for 2 hours at around 1.  He was wiped out by 6:30 and in bed sleeping before 7:30p.m.  I awoke today at 2:30 ARGH!  Then he crawled in bed with us at 3:30.....HUNGRY!  ok...so I got up.  He was all cheerful which made it a little easier.

I made 4 scrambled eggs thinking I would eat one or two.  NOPE!  He ate ALL of them and 2 sausage patties.  Then asked for more eggs.

Total:
SIX scrambled eggs and 2 sausage patties and a few strawberries.

That's a Man Sized breakfast.

Peter and I are discussing the useage of benedryl as a sleeping agent tonight to get past that early morning hump.....just sayin'.

Overall, he has been doing well.  We had a few meltdowns yesterday.  I think some is attributed to the tiredness and wacky schedule.  But, he required some Time Outs and was screaming and throwing shoes, etc.  He also ran away from me outside.  All of this is so new to him.  Not an excuse, but he is searching for boundaries everywhere.  The language barrier can be hard in those meltdowns.  But, we're making it through.   Then mixed in with all of that he will jump on our laps and give us kisses and hugs all over the place. Most of the time he is a pretty happy boy.  He rambles to me in Chinese like I really understand him and giggles.  It's quite amuzing actually.  Then I ramble back to him in English and we both giggle.  Isaac likes to immitate his chinese and it makes him laugh really hard.

He found a small bike in our garage right away. (we still had it from Jacob believe it or not).  He was so excited about it but it had flat tires and needed some adjustments. We thought we got it all figured out yesterday, but the reality is the bike is just too big for him.  It wouldn't be for a child his age that is normal in size, but he just cannot find the balance he needs because that one leg is significantly shorter than the other.  So we may need to buy a smaller bike for him with training wheels so he can be more independent.  I'm going to post some pics of our "bike" day yesterday in just a little while.  He was so excited...

  1. Glad to hear that you guys are back at least bodily. Even though you feel like a zombie. Jet lag is much worse coming home rather than going. And not to discourage you but it took Riley about a month to get on a US sleeping schedule. Prayerfully your transition will not be as long. Thanks for sharing this time with all of us.
